Snowshoeing in the Pack Demonstration Forest
Named after Charles Lathrop Pack, who donated the land to the State University of New York as a place to teach environmental science and forestry. It is now used by the University system as one of their environmental education camps. The forest is approximately 2500 acres in size. There are about 10.5 miles of trails in the forest, suitable for hiking, mountain biking, X-C skiing, and snowshoeing.

Travel Directions

The forest is located on state Route 9, just north of Warrensburg, about 1/4 mile north of the intersection of Routes 9 and 28.

From the Adirondack Northway (Interstate 87) take Exit 23 (Warrensburg exit) and head north on route 9 through the town of Warrensburg.

Continue north on Route 9. You'll pass the junction of route 9 and route 28 North. Just past this intersection, on the left hand side of the road is the entrance to the forest.

The white sign pictured above is located at the turnoff. Turn left into the forest at the sign and proceed just over 1/2 mile in to a parking area and office.
