The Wild Center - Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks
The Wild Center is a brand new (2006) natural history museum focused on the natural world of the Adirondack mountains. The 35,000 square foot museum contains a live otter exhibit, 20 ft. waterfall, aquariums, and other live exhibits. The focus of the indoor exhibits is on the ecology of the Adirondack mountains. There are excellent displays on the forest ecosystem, and the alpine tundra ecology at the top of the highest peaks. There's less on birds and mammals.
