High Falls Gorge is a 22 acre privately owned park located 8 miles east of Lake Placid NY, where the Ausable river has carved a chasm in the granite cliffs. There are interesting rock formations, such as potholes that the water has carved in the rock over the span of a billion years.
A half mile pathway runs inside the gorge, allowing good views of the carved rock, waterfalls, and rushing river below. Allow 45 minutes to an hour to walk through the gorge.
There is a picnic area and gift shop.
No pets allowed.
