Main Street Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant, Chestertown NY
Serving ice cream since 1893, this is real old-fashioned ice cream parlor. They have just recently relocated to the beautifully restored old town hall building, just south of their original location. They have delicious ice cream. The shakes are great, and you can even get an egg-cream. They also have great sandwiches and homemade pie (also available as whole pies for take-out but you might want to call a day ahead to make sure they have one for you). Off-season, the kitchen hours are somewhat limited so if you want a sandwich, you might want to check ahead.
There's a nice Adirondack-themed gift shop upstairs.

We just checked out the new location last month. Very nice soda fountain atmosphere brings you back to when you were young. Nice gift shop upstairs.

Yes Main st ice cream palor has a great selection and we love it!!! BUT, I think it lost some of its atmosphere & nostalgia when it moved.The old location which WAS THE ORIGINAL ICE CREAM PALOR SODA FOUNTAIN (GOOD OLD T J FISH&SON) still sells soft ice cream.Not all the choices that main st. has but it beats it out hands down for old time feel! Over all we love em' both!

We enjoyed ice cream at the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor in July during our annual Adirondack vacation. Still great food and a fun place for ice cream - but the old location was more nostalgic!

My family and i lived in Chestertown for five years that is one great ice cream shop, my family loved it . what a great town with wonderful people i miss it so much its home for me.
